September 11, 2011 – 6:00 PM: A Day of Remembrance in Downtown Fontana September 11, 2011

The Mayor and City Council invite the public to the September 11th Remembrance Ceremony in Downtown Fontana on Sunday, September 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Memorial Rose Garden, located at 16822 Spring Street, Fontana, Ca, 92335.

All residents are invited to join the City of Fontana and the San Bernardino County Fire Department in honoring those who lost their lives ten years ago on September 11, 2001. The service will include guest speakers, a candle light vigil at sunset and a memorial slide show.

September 11 is also known as a National Day of Service. As part of the event, those who are eligible are encouraged to serve by participating in the LifeStream hosted blood drive from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Rose Garden. September 15, 2011 – 12:00 AM: Big Bear Film Festival

The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival attracts an average of 5,000 attendees to its scenic location yearly and will be celebrating its 12th anniversary at this year’s event; September 15th – 18th, 2011. September 16, 2011 – 1:00 PM: Free Flu Vaccinations Offered to Seniors

Free flu vaccinations will be provided to the first 100 seniors who participate in the health screening clinic hosted by Heritage Gardens Health Care and Retirement Centers and Arrowhead United Way on Friday, September 16, 2011, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Health Screening Clinic will take place at Heritage Gardens Retirement Center, located at 25271 Barton Road, Loma Linda, CA 92354.

Saturday, October 8, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to benefit West End Animal Shelter, a no-kill pet facility.

Bring your pooch(es) and join us for a 5K walk around beautiful Prado Regional Park to help raise funds for food and veternary services provided by the West End Animal Shelter for area orphaned pets!

Registration: 8:30 a.m.
Walk Begins: 10:00 a.m.
$20 per adult registration (tax deductible); Children under 12, free

MONIES RAISED: 100% of money raised from this fundraiser will go towards housing, veterinarian services and feeding our 200 homeless dogs & cats at the shelter, as well as our “Save a Pet” rescue fund, which allows West End Animal Shelter to rescue adoptable dogs and cats from kill shelters and bring them to a safe-haven until they have been adopted.

  • Registration is $20 per adult. Children 12 and under are free, dogs on leash free (current license required)

October 8, 2011 – 6:00 PM: Jazz Jam Benefitting the Fontana Boys and Girls Club!; Fontana

The Mayor and City Council invite citizens, business owners and community partners to the First Annual Mayor’s Jazz Jam. Mayor Warren is hosting the Mayor’s Jazz Jam and all proceeds will directly benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Fontana. The Jazz Jam will be held at the Fontana Community Senior Center on October 8, 2011 from 6pm to 11pm. It will be a night of great food, dancing and community. The tickets are $50.00 per person.
